Why Austin
Where America is building.
“The companies rebuilding and reinventing America’s power grid, defense industrial base, and robotics — the technologies that decide whether America leads the next decade — are doing it in Austin.”
Aabid Razvi, Principal, Overmatch Ventures
Just down the road, Proto-Town is taking shape south of Lockhart: a manufacturing and hardware city where startups build and test physical technology. Allen Control Systems, No. 9 on the list, has already joined, and plans for a nuclear research reactor are on file.
Texas helps. According to the Office of the Texas Governor, the state produces more electricity than any other, makes 11.7% of all U.S. manufactured goods and is home to 15 major military installations.
